Getting pregnant

Well, we are in denial if we think there is no irony in the fact that the majority of women nowadays spend their twenties trying not to get pregnant and their thirties trying to get pregnant.

Needless to say, it's great fodder for the urban myths to begin circulating about getting pregnant.

Here are some of our favourites - can you decide if they are true or false?

- Don't wash for the days that you are ovulating, apparently being smelly helps.

- Put your legs in the air straight afterwards to help the sperm find its way.

- You get three babies when you do IVF.

- It's impossible to get pregnant if you have sex during your period.

- You need to have sex to get pregnant.

- The pill stops you from getting pregnant.

- Douching with coke cola stops you from getting pregnant by killing the sperm.

- The time of getting pregnant tells you if you'll have a boy or a girl.

- If the woman is on top, you can' t get pregnant.

- Sperm can live for three to five days after having sex, so you need to have as much sex as possible in those few days to increase your chances.
